- Captivating and fun book to read. I didn't want the story to end! Another reviewer described it as thought-provoking and I quite agree. I found the author to be an engaging storyteller and I look forward to reading more from him. (By the way, , this is my 2nd review of this book because my 1st one was submitted but never appeared. What gives?)
- An intriguing and original exploration of what life could be like in the very near future considering the rapid advancements in medical technology. Despite mankind's progress in so many fields he might still have a few unexpected surprises in store. I highly recommend this very different love story.
- A quirky, emotive & thought provoking futuristic romance delivered in one short hit. I loved the N.Z references & the laughed at the cultural idiosyncrasies of academia portrayed. It was great to have the setting as my own , much loved home of Auckland, New Zealand. Not something you find to often. Nice work Marshall!
- I hadn't heard of this author before, but I have now. The Girl Who Could Stop Time is a real page turner. It takes you into the near future world of cloning, but it's less science fiction and more love story/coming of age. It simply manages to blend the two well without getting overly schmaltzy . If you've ever longed for a perfect, all consuming love, here it is. The only down side for me was the simplicity of the relationship, but it's an easy fix when, and I hope this happens, it goes into production as a feature film.
- I was swept up in this beautiful and heart-felt novella, with it's delightful humour, romance and rich imagery! I look forward to reading more from this talented author.
